Mars 2009 : Immersion totale de 6 jours au cœur de la Tasmanie sauvage. Des sommets vertigineux de Cradle Mountain aux plages préservées de la Bay of Fires, une terre insulaire brute d’une beauté exceptionnelle.

Adelaide ➔ Hobart 🌧️ Pluie & 18°C

Voilà voilà ! Départ d’Adélaïde pour Hobart ! L’atterrissage s’est bien passé, mais la piste était un peu courte, alors nous avons dû freiner comme des malades. J’ai cru que l’avion allait se décortiquer lol. Petit aéroport, petite ville charmante nichée entre mer et montagnes ! Vraiment très joli mais qu’est-ce que c’est calme ! Je suis allé au cinéma voir Watchmen (oui, nul à chier !), je suis sorti à 21h et plus rien n’était ouvert lol. Sinon, bonne nouvelle : j’ai réservé un tour de 6 jours autour de la Tasmanie !

Here we go! Departure from Adelaide to Hobart! The landing went well, but the runway was a bit short, so we had to brake like crazy. I thought the plane was going to fall apart lol. Small airport, charming little town between sea and mountains! Really very pretty but so dead! I went to the cinema to see Watchmen (yes, it sucked!), got out at 9 pm and nothing was open anymore lol. Anyway, I booked a 6-day tour around Tassie!

Hobart ➔ Devonport (Cradle Mountain) ☀️ Soleil & 23°C

(Note de bord : Je commence à écrire en anglais pour que mes compagnons de route internationaux puissent aussi me lire !)
Ces trois premiers jours ont été incroyables ! Le premier jour, nous avons fait route vers le Lake St Clair mais nous avons eu un incident amusant : notre remorque s’est renversée au milieu de la route, éparpillant tous nos bagages à travers les champs ! La police est venue enquêter, et nous avons pu reprendre notre route une heure plus tard. Nous avons ensuite exploré la Surprise Valley, un endroit sauvage et immaculé constitué uniquement de forêts denses. Magnifique ! Nous avons finalement atteint la côte Ouest pour passer la nuit à Strahan (un petit village de bord de mer). Le deuxième jour a été principalement marqué par la route, avec un chouette arrêt dans les dunes pour rejoindre une immense plage déserte !
Et aujourd’hui fut une journée fantastique ! Nous sommes partis tôt à 8h pour rejoindre la base de Cradle Mountain, puis nous avons grimpé pendant 5 heures jusqu’au sommet à 1 300 mètres d’altitude, avec une vue sublime ! Nous logeons ce soir dans une jolie maison à Devonport, une petite ville du Nord de l’île.

I decided to start writing in English because some other people want to read this too ^^ So, these first 3 days were really amazing! On the first day, we went to Lake St Clair but before that, we had a funny problem! Our trailer overturned in the middle of the road, throwing all our luggage across the fields! The police came to investigate, and we were able to continue our journey an hour later! Then we went to the Surprise Valley, a pristine place with only forest and nothing else! Very beautiful, and we finally reached the west coast where we had a house for the night in Strahan (a small village by the sea). The second day was mostly driving, but we stopped at the dunes to reach a huge deserted beach! And today was a fantastic day! We started early at 8 am to reach the base of Cradle Mountain, then hiked for 5 hours to the top at 1300 meters with a sublime view! Now we are in a lovely house in Devonport, a small city in the north of the island!

Devonport ➔ Hobart (East Coast) ☁️ Nuageux & 18°C

En route pour la côte Est de la Tasmanie ! Tout d’abord, nous sommes passés par Launceston, la deuxième plus grande ville de l’île avec ses 100 000 habitants. Nous avons ensuite passé l’après-midi au cœur du décor époustouflant de la Bay of Fires avant de rejoindre Bicheno pour la nuit, où nous avons fait une excursion guidée nocturne pour observer les manchots ! Le lendemain, grosse randonnée de 4h30 dans le parc national de Wineglass Bay, grimpant jusqu’à un point de vue magnifique sur la baie en forme de verre à vin. Nous avons ensuite piqué vers Port Arthur à travers la forêt pluviale tempérée. Pour le dernier jour du tour, nous avons visité le site historique de Port Arthur, un ancien pénitencier à ciel ouvert chargé d’histoire. Enfin, nous nous sommes arrêtés dans un parc animalier pour observer de près les célèbres diables de Tasmanie et des kangourous, avant notre retour final sur Hobart !

Let’s go for the east coast of the island! First, we went to Launceston, the second-largest city in Tassie with 100,000 inhabitants. Then we spent the afternoon at the breathtaking Bay of Fires before heading to Bicheno where we spent the night and took a guided tour to see penguins! The next day, we had a big 4.5-hour hike in Wineglass Bay National Park, climbing to a beautiful viewpoint. Then we headed to Port Arthur through the temperate rainforest! On the last day of our tour, we spent the morning at the historic site of Port Arthur, an old open-air prison! Then we visited a wildlife park where we saw Tasmanian devils and kangaroos before returning to Hobart!

Hobart ➔ Adelaide ☀️ Soleil & 27°C

Retour à Adélaïde ! Cette fois, j’ai décidé de loger à l’auberge de jeunesse YHA (Youth Hostel Association) pour profiter d’un meilleur standing pour seulement 6 $ de plus… d’ailleurs, je vais bientôt prendre ma carte de membre YHA, ce qui me permettra d’avoir ce niveau de propreté et de confort pour le même prix ! J’ai également profité de cette journée pour planifier et réserver mon grand voyage vers le Red Centre (l’Outback) ! Au programme : quatre nuits à Adélaïde (oui, encore… ce n’est vraiment pas ma ville préférée !), puis une journée complète de train à bord du légendaire Ghan vers Alice Springs, suivie d’un safari de 3 jours à Ayers Rock (Uluru) et Kings Canyon, et enfin un vol (malheureusement très cher) en direction de Sydney après quelques nuits à Alice !

Back in Adelaide! Now I decided to stay in the YHA backpackers with a higher standard for just $6 more… well, I will be a YHA member soon, so it will be the same price for more cleanliness and comfort ^^ I also booked my trip to the Red Centre! Four nights in Adelaide (yes, again… not my favorite city!), then a full day train to Alice Springs followed by a 3-day safari to Ayers Rock and the Kings Canyon, and finally a flight (unfortunately very expensive) to Sydney after a few nights in Alice!
